Eduardo was arrested on multiple corruption charges and it seems other legislators can also be charged on those same crimes as well. Despite this, the government doesn’t want to hear an of the proof he has on these legislator unless it is proof against someone of a higher position than his. I feel this is very unfair. In most cases, a plea bargain is offered in order to arrest other criminals just because they are also at fault, not because they hold more power than the criminal caught. The same should be done with Eduardo. Even some Brazilian citizens want the government to make a deal with Eduardo. I feel that that is the first step in removing some of the corruption in the Brazilian government. If Eduardo offers some names, even if they are of legislators of lower positions than his, those legislators will be removed from office and pay for their crimes. In return, the government would have less corrupted people and position would be open for people who actually want to better the government. Though I agree with one of the reasons behind the hesitation in not making a plea bargain with Eduardo. As mentioned in the article, officials are worried that Eduardo will only name legislators who aided in removing him from office or didn’t stop his arrest. I agree that this is a possibility since Eduardo might want to get revenge on these legislators but at the same time it would once again result in the arrest of other corrupted legislators. Either way the government officials would arrest more people than just Eduardo Cunha on corruption charges; but if they keep on avoiding the chance to hear him they would only have one culprit and the other corrupted legislators will still hold a position of power where they can continue corrupt the government to their advantage.

Out of my four articles, the most interesting one was the article called “Jailed ex-Brazil Congress leader may not get to tell all” I feel this article is very interesting since it talks about the arrest of the former speaker of the lower house of Brazil’s Congress, Eduardo Cunha.
