A lot of Brazilian people believe the president is to blame, Jair Bolsonaro, as environmental rights advocates are slamming him with complaints about this issue. It is essential that we take care of the Amazon rainforest as there are so many trees that absorb the greenhouse gases. Bolsonaro is also seeking to re run in the highly anticipated October elections, but because of his non existent efforts to help the Amazon rainforest with deforestation, there is basically no chance he wins the upcoming election. To put it in perspective, just in April of twenty twenty two there was about one hundred forty thousand football fields worth of deforestation, a new record.

This article is important because it showcases how Brazil is looking out for their future as the Amazon is something of importance to Brazil and other countries, and this deforestation is not allowing for the development of the Amazon rainforest and hurting global warming a lot. Global warming is something that people tend to overlook but with these record deforestation numbers maybe it will perk some ears for change. At least a change in office will happen soon which will hopefully help the situation.

This article relates to what we talk about in class through geopolitics because this deforestation may only be one rainforest, but the Amazon has an impact on much more than just itself, as deforestation can hurt global warming a ton more and also make way less available habitat for animals that tend to live in trees in the Amazon.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/5/6/brazil-sets-another-amazon-deforestation-record-prompting-alarm This article talks about how Brazil is letting the Amazon lose trees at an alarming rate.
