China is also planning on improving, or at least developing their relations with the whole of the Caribbean community. There are multiple quotes from the Prime Minister of the Dominican Republic telling the world how happy and hopeful they are for the future and their country. The ambassador from China also tells the world that China is looking forward to working with the country, and that the world needs better relations. The last paragraph of the article says that multiple Caribbean countries recognize Taiwan.

One point I want to make before I go into my main thought process, is that there isn’t any mention that a lot of the Caribbean recognizes Taiwan until the final paragraph. Almost like it’s trying to hide it. The main motivator behind China’s efforts to improve relations with a variety of Caribbean countries is that multiple Caribbean countries recognize Taiwan. And China wants to definitively control Taiwan. Besides that, the Caribbean doesn’t have much to offer any country other than their own, considering that they’re all tiny islands with tiny populations with not a lot of resources. Yeah, maybe China wants some more trade, but that’s highly unlikely, and China is already one of the world’s manufacturing capitals. Taiwan is the reason, and the only reason. If Taiwan wasn’t involved, I would bet that China would not be interested in the Caribbean at all.

Once again, this article is related to what we’re doing in class because this is a current event that is from my assigned part of the world. We’ve also talked about China a lot in class.

Article: https://www.caribbeannationalweekly.com/news/caribbean-news/dominica-and-china-seek-to-strengthen-relations-further/ The Dominican Republic will be strengthening their relations with China throughout the coming years.
