Obrador proposed that Ukraine\u2019s Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russia\u2019s Vladimir Putin come together for a series of peace talks. These peace talks would be mediated by a \u201cmediation committee, including Pope Francis, India\u2019s prime minister Narendra Modi, and the U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The ultimate goal of these peace talks would be a truce for at least five years. However, Ukraine seemingly has already rejected these plans. One of Zelenskyy\u2019s advisors, Mykhailo Podolyak, recently tweeted that AMLO was proposing this peace plan only for his image and that it would only give Russia time to gain strength while more and more Ukrainians are killed.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think it\u2019s naive for AMLO to propose something like this and expect people to believe that he\u2019s genuine. He believes that Mexico should have a non-interventionist foreign policy, and his relations with Russia are pretty strong;\u00a0 legislators in his administration created a Mexico-Russia friendship committee a month after the war in Ukraine began.
