In recent weeks thousands of people have been displaced from the US and left almost stranded in Panama. Many people, families, leave their home country to escape from conflict, religious persecution, poverty, and government crackdowns. These people are ow being taken from homes, jobs, airports and shipped to Panama. Panama was supposed to be just a stop point but many refused to return to their home country which lead to them being moved into to guarded camps. These camps don’t have access to lawyers and it is in the Darien Jungle where many had crossed before. Due to legal pressure on the Panamanian government, they have started to drop people off in the capital with 30 days to figure out something else.

This article highlights the suffering that is accruing in the past few weeks. There will be most definitely lasting impacts not only on the land but within the people. Since Trump has entered office there have been many changes. One being the deportation of illegal immigrants but this has lead to the separation of families and many people being left with out homes. Many Americans have shown distain towards Trump’s action and will probably continue too.

As stated earlier the Panamanian government has faced backlash this past week for the treatment of the individuals in these camps. They have had to start making accommodations to a degree. Trump has not showed any signs of stopping this ICE raids or other harsh treatment towards immigrants trying to get into the US. Many citizens are displeased but there has been much evidence that it will cause change in the matter.

in class we talk about how in all these different countries people can be faced with many hardships and then will try to escape them. The US used to be a place for that but the process to become a citizen is hard and expensive. This makes it very difficult for people to escape the tragedies they are facing.

https://apnews.com/article/panama-trump-immigration-deportees-stories-106a6266f9f1930e94f5915ac59aad07 Since the beginning of the United States, it has been a place for people to escape bad circumstances and start news lives, but has changed severely since Trump has taken office.
