A Solong traveling from Scotland to the Netherlands and flying the Portuguese flag crashed into a stationed US Stela Immaculate that was transporting Jet A1 fuel resulting in a fire and the possible loose of a life. The crash happened 13 miles off the coast of East Yorkshire, the Solong belongs to a German businessman with a Russian Captain and a Filipino Crew. As of The article\u2019s post foul play has not been proven, although the Russian captain was arrested on charges of manslaughter. The Solong has failed multiple safety checks in the past but was still used for shipping. The US and Portuguese authorities are heading up the on going investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While some will suspect foul play, I think that this article demonstrates how interconnected Europe and America are economically. The fact that they have all approached this situation very calmly shows that they all have some basis of faith that allows them to trust each other. Had this happened in the Pacific closer to China or Russia there certainly would have been more of an uproar and come closer to being an international invading. But that each country has approached this as an accident proves the close relationship of Europe and America. Specifically Britian who was quick to act in Americas place at the start of the ordeal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The countries that are economically involved has responded well. Announcing the accident and the plans for investigations. There is even a joint team between two countries to find out why this accident happened. This is a great example of the effects that can come from Liberal Theory. Since all of these countries use each other to bolster their economies one way or another, they were far less prone to pointing fingers than they would have been if there was less of a relationship. Had this happened between America and a country we were less friendly with, the response to the accident would have been much messier.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
