In his first official meeting after being elected to the Papacy, Pope Leo XIV outlined some goals for his time in the role of the Pope, with special emphasis on combating what he claims is the new Industrial Revolution, referencing AI. There was also a special emphasis on the adherence to the rulings of the Vatican II meetings in his Papal devotions. Vatican II is seen as \u201cprogressive\u201d about how the Church is run. All this being said, the Pope has remained critical of Western\/Progressive ideologies. He has political leanings and participated in American elections and politics, albeit on a smaller scale than other Bishops or Cardinals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This article is very introductory to the new Pope. This makes sense as he has not had time to make any major headlines, except for the obvious. The selection was a huge deal among both the religious and non-religious. Everyone and their mother had an opinion on who they wanted or thought the Pope would be. To be the Pope is one of the most influential positions in the entire world. Whether we like it or not, the Pope being American means he will have an American-tinted perspective and understanding of social issues. That does not mean he supports everything that America does; in fact, he is critical in some areas, but there will always be that \u201cAmerican influence\u201d that the rest of the world will see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

America, specifically the Legislative and Executive branches, could try to become as close to the Pope as possible, racking up favors, if you will. The Pope will be seen as the key to influencing politics, as younger demographics have shown to be growing in Christianity, specifically Catholicism. The Pope is going to have a very fine and dangerous line to walk, as he will have to put his nationality aside and make his religion his priority. He must be wary of becoming a political pawn in anyone\u2019s game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
