American President Donald Trump begins to distance the U.S. from Israel’s strike on Qatar. He is doing this amid fury between Arab leaders.  Recently, rulers from Saudi Aruba invited Trump to their land and palace, but now are angry with the U.S after Israel’s recent attack on Qatar. The attack on Hamas has created the worst fears in leaders from that area. The fear that the U.S might abandon its decades-old commitment to protect them from their regional aggressors.  A few other issues that could arise from his attack are Trump\u2019s priorities changing from ending the war in Gaza and expanding his signature Abraham Accords to the ongoing war with Russia and Ukraine. The article goes on to mention that the United States has begun to distance itself from this argument because it \u201c doesn’t advance ideals and American goals\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is important to this region because decreased U.S. influence in the Middle East can lead to increased conflict, regional instability, opportunity for other countries to get a hold in that region, economic issues,etc.  If the U.S. cuts its foreign assistance will worsen economic and humanitarian conditions in unstable Arab countries. Hypothetically, the U.S. decreasing its strong hold on the Middle East could  harm current alliances and relationships.  This event, if it begins to escalate, will increase  current conflicts and harm the relationships between the countries in the Middle East. Without U.S. intervention, conflicts will worsen. The U.S acts as a mediator in this situation and will help resolve or stabilize growing tensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar responded to Israel’s attacks on Hamas with a feeling of fury and anger. The article states that, \u201cQatar\u2019s prime minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, called the strike an act of ‘state terror\u201d. The attack has made Qatar frustrated and angry.  The U.S. responded to this strike by telling Qatar  that it won’t happen again. The U.S. has now begun to pull away from Middle East affairs because it is not benefiting the United States’ goals.   The U.S. will most likely address the issue without becoming fully involved.  The attack will damage Israel’s relationship with the surrounding countries. This will cause increased conflict and tension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This article connects to class because it is talking about the conflict between countries and NGOs and IGOs.
