The Harvey Weinstein scandal broke out in Hollywood earlier this year and since then it has been a snowball effect in calling out these sexual harassment predators. The spread of this movement means that social reforms are on the way for many countries. The advancement from the United States of America to Japan is huge. Even though Japan is more of a westernized country it is still important to recognize the attention that this is getting. With Japan being involved now with that cause other Asian countries to speak out? Will it transfer through the pacific and make its way to other more modern and westernized countries? This can cause for more of an out cry in the country of Japan and have a domino effect like it did in the States. It can also start the conversation in more private situations where it isn’t a celebrity getting called out for these actions but someone in your life. This increased awareness will help women and men that have been abused find their voice and be able to help those in need or build up the courage to talk about what they went through and bring those who are guilty to justice.
