This article was about the Chinese Vice Premier, Han Zheng, and the leader of Russia, Vladimir Putin, coming together to talk about advancing their bilateral ties.
Bilateral ties are relationships between two countries tied together with some sort of economic reason. In this case, they met to continue development and cooperation on topics like digital economy, modern biological gene technology, deep space and high-tech. As one would know, the U.S. hasn’t always had the best relationship with Russia in the past, like during the Cold War. But recently, the U.S. and China haven’t had the best relationship with each other either. They are having their own bilateral economic issues, in this case trading issues. The U.S. wants to put taxes on China’s imports and China wants to do the same back. It feels like this is an ongoing situation that could end badly if its not resolved. Mainly because we rely heavily on China’s goods and they rely on our money. This isn’t the main problem in my opinion. I think that Russia and China meeting was a way for China to get back at the U.S. for the trading issues through meeting with our “enemy” Russia. They didn’t just meet because they’re close but because the U.S. and Russia don’t get along too well or trust each other. “ The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” The fact that Russia and China are getting together at this time to talk about trading and pacts directly after the U.S. and China had a falling out scares me. I almost feel like China and Russia are teaming up against the U.S. to get back at them. Since China and Russia are both world superpowers, they have the power to possibly cut the U.S. out of all trading arrangements completely which could lead to our economy dropping and our global trade failing. But even worse, we, the U.S., could lose our global power causing Russia and China to make there way to the top and rule over all the other countries and control their economies. I feel that the U.S. and other big countries like Great Britain and Australia, should be weary of the biddings and meetings going on between Russia and China. They could potentially be planning something that negatively affects the global economy.
