The trade war with China isn’t looking up for anyone right now. China raised their tariffs on United States automobiles imports to 40% this summer which has had an extremely negative effect on the automobile industry. Right now Tesla is has lost over 2 billion dollars on these taxes that could have been put towards building the new factory in Shanghai.

In the article it said that, “‘Bottom line is cash is tight,’ wrote Gene Munster, head of research at brokerage Loup Ventures, who estimated that Tesla needs $1.5 billion to sustain operations. It ended the second quarter with about $2.3 billion. ‘This is a step in the right direction, but more work remains.’” This is crazy to think that such a big company and staple to America is taking such a beating by this trade war with China. They estimate with the shipping of the cars from America to China it takes over 55 to 60% of a cost disadvantage to the same cars that would be being produced in China.

As the ice caps melt and the seas levels continue to rise, its causing fears that we wouldn’t expect. In the rice fields swamp land area in Vietnam, they are experiencing flooding over and over again. Their rice producing is dwindling due to the salt water that is destroying the plants. Homes that line the coast are being lost ot the rising waters. Children are fearing one big flood is going to take them all away. I wish that people who are sceptical of climate change to go and visit a part of the world and see how damaging and real it actually is. Its effecting 18 million people in this part of Vietnam.

It’s so exciting to hear about new breakthroughs in the cure to cancer. Its remarkable that they have been researching this disease for years and years in different shapes and forms are only now finding out new cures for it. This new cure that quote, “focused on proteins that act as brakes on the immune system – preventing the body’s main immune cells, known as T-cells, from attacking tumors effectively.” The two scientist- American James Allison and Japanese Tasuku Honjo said that they were grateful for the nobel prize but expect to have a lot bigger breakthroughs. Honjo is 76 years old and doesn’t plan on retiring any time soon.
