The simulation was super fun. While going into it I didn’t feel super confident with what I had to work with, I got more comfortable and confident as it went along. I was the USDOS. I was very active in talking and talked to every single group with most of my talks happening Malil. I helped work out our deal for them to stop supporting Budan and helped speed up the peace agreements. My group worked very well and I know we weren’t supposed to see the simulation as winning or losing, we saw ourselves as trying to “win” and come to a deal that best benefited us. I really enjoyed the social aspect of the simulation and talking to delegates and the Esteemed Chairman. I don’t think I’ll have an opportunity to ever do that again in the future and just having a little taste on how international treaties worked was really cool. My group participated a lot and I have no complaints about them. Holly did a great job leading the formal negotiations for our group as she was in Model UN. Brady also helped with that. Meghan and Grace did a great job communicating with other groups and coming to a deal. For the future simulations I would like to know more specifics on how much funding we had. The paper was kind of vague in that part so we couldn’t officially say how much money we would give to another country. Maybe if each country could have a set GDP. I also would want to have the ability to threaten war but I guess you have thought that one out more than me and would decline that idea. The only thing I would redo in the simulation is communicating with the NGO more. That is the one group that kind of came out of the blue to me at the end and I felt like I hadn’t talked to them enough. I enjoyed the length of the simulation as it let us get almost everything talked about and I would not change the three classes we had to work on it. I thought it was super fun and hope every class gets an opportunity to do it.
