This article talks about many different things that China is trying to do in order to work as a team with the continent of Africa. Such as, China is providing around one billion vaccines doses to Africa in order to help Africa achieve its goal of having sixty percent of its population vaccinated by 2022. They also are supporting them in trade, where they are giving Africa ten billion dollars of trade finance to them. China is also helping Africa with its technological advancements, where they are developing partner institutes, laboratories and more to work with them. Finally, China is also is also looking to help Africa with their educational system by helping them build or upgrade 10 schools, and invite 10,000 high level African professionals to workshops and seminars.
This article is important because it shows Africa getting recognition from a country like China who sometimes has a bad reputation with other countries. China helping out Africa with many different things can shine light on what they may be trying to achieve which is more of a peaceful goal than what meets the eye with most people. They usually are thought of like a dictatorship that wants dominance over everyone, however maybe they go along with the liberal theory more than we think.
This article relates to what we talk about in class through the liberal theory. China probably wants long term to not have enemies, and wants to achieve that goal as soon as possible. While China has probably considered the option of just eliminating Africa as an enemy and trying to invade it, they would rather not create more enemies by eliminating one. The long term approach of building a relationship will turn out more beneficial by the end as that is one more country China will have on their side when creating peace.
