Japan will pay 1.9 billion for a total of 55,000 ally troops based there and extend an agreement. President Trump placed pressure on Japan to increase their defense spending on more on US military installations in order to get a fairer deal to maintain freedom in the Indo-Pacific regions. This agreement was concluded after Trump wanted them to pay 8 billion but settled for 1.9 billion. The US fleets include the Navy´s Seventh Fleet and a permanently deployed carrier strike group, and the Third Expeditionary Force.
The US is hosted in Japan to act as a counterbalance to China and maintain a base of operations in the Asia-Pacific region. A growing concern of China will cause the US to act in ways in order to curb the threat, but the Biden administration is taking pressure off Japan. Diplomatic relations after WWII were established in 1952. In 2020 Japan and the US had their 60th anniversary of the signing of the US-Japan Security treaty. Their alliance was reinforced later in 2015 after the signing of the US-Japan Defense guidelines, which greatly expanded security operations. In January of 2016 they also signed a 5-year deal to host the US for military support in Japan. Its important that Japan and the US maintain their relationship so that there can be a police power for places under threat throughout the Pacific and expand prosperity.
Japan and the US have been able to come together for the collective goods issue in development assistance, global health, climate change, and resource protection. They have worked together to increase IT security and ensure secure transitions to 5G networks. Throughout the years they have also expanded on medicine and even space exploration. Political support from Japan has also had an effect on the US including fighting terrorism and assisting with the ebola epidemic. They have maintained in solidarity united against Russia during aggressive periods. Together these two countries have been able to construct one of the strongest economic relationships through substantial trade and investment flows. These relations continue to flourish and the two are one of the most powerful global actors together to this date.
