China is facing serious economic problems after COVID-19. Including high debt a slump in the property market, rising unemployment, and low consumer spending. To help fix these problems china plans to spend 840 billion dollars to help local governments deal with their debts and rebuild their nation. On top of this debt, Donald Trump being elected president has very harsh tariffs on Chinese goods which will make things very hard for them to rebuild. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has also predicted that china will grow at a slower rate in the coming years and with Trump being elected it could go lower because of the tariffs being imposed on imported goods.
The position China is in is really rough and hard to get out of. It seems that they are just going to be on a decline for the next 4 years well trump is president. This will also increase tension between the 2 superpowers but with the failing economy and growing economy in the United States it will be hard for them to do anything to the united states unless they use there nuclear missiles. I think they would start by invading the philippines which is allies with the united states to try and scare us into lessing these tariffs but it will ultimately just backfire on the much weaker china.
The United States is taking an offensive realize stance where they will gain Hegemonic stability through dominance. By keeping their economy in a desperate state always keeping the United States in power. This is a very strong take for the united state that is guaranteed to rise tensions between the global superpowers. This can also lead to China not trading with the United states and caused a widespread of shortage of good in the United states. Well cutting trade they could also increase trade with russia which would definitely come to bite us in the butt.
