King Charles and his Wife, Queen Consort Camila, traveled to Austria in the king’s first major overseas tour and first major trip since his Cancer Diagnosis. The king expressed enthusiasm for the journey, his 16th official visit to the country, and his time there during school. In his opening speech to the tour, the king talked about the importance of democracy and complimented its role and continues to play in society. The Australian tour will last for six days, after which the King will meet with Heads of Government to discuss many programs he has donated to, ranging from Education to climate change.

King Charles has held the throne for a little over two years at this point. Even before the passing of Queen Elizabeth, many wondered how Charles’ age would affect his duties to the crown. Considering his Cancer Diagnosis, the King needs to prove a strong face. The best place to do that is in Australia. Austria was originally a penal colony for Britian until they gained their independence. However, the two countries have remained relatively close to each other, primarily for economic reasons, as demonstrated by the king’s donations. It is safe to say that Austria is the best spot to begin such extensive tours due to the hospitality between the two countries, most likely due to the similarity in culture, language, and Charles’s connections to the Country.

Charles and Camila are pressing a strong front that the King is well and can perform the duties necessary for him. Australia is very welcoming of the King. Due to the many aligned international interests and the monetary incentive of donations, it has always been in Australia’s best interest to maintain warm relations with the British monarchy, even if they hold little power compared to the British parliament. I think this would be a pretty standard trip if it were not for Charles’s age and Condition. Charles’s first major trip is to a country that likes him very well and has good reason not to provide any criticisms. I doubt a tour of certain African countries would be as inviting as Australia.

It is in Britain’s National interest to keep the Face of a strong Monarch as he is the Head of the state. As for Australia, it is in their best interest to make the king’s trip as easy as possible. Austria’s ties with Britain are deep; any incident would surely leave a good amount of egg on their face. This is one of the easiest countries for the king to Tour right now, along with the monetary donations to programs aimed to bolster the Australian economy; it would be incomprehensible to endanger any relations with Britain.
