NATO chief Stoltenberg says it’s ‘not too late for Ukraine to prevail’ against Russia

With the hope that allies fulfill promises too deliver more weapons NATO Chief Stoltenberg believes that a Ukrainian victory over Russia could be a high possibility. With the US Congress decision to approve a bill that will send billions of dollars to Ukraine, and other powerful European nations following suite with something similar, Stoltenberg had this to say, “It is not too late for Ukraine to prevail, because more support is on the way.” This came with lots of reassurance because of a previous statement that was said by Stoltenberg. “In recent months, NATO allies have not provided the support we have promise.” Seems that the support has come at the right time to provide hope towards a better Ukrainian future.

During his address Stoltenberg addressed somewhat of a double edged sword within this conflict. He pointed out and outed China for shady promises and inconsistent dealings. He accused Beijing of ‘propping up Russia’s war economy’. Saying this, “China says it wants good relations with the west. At the same time, Beijing continues to fuel the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War ll.” Claiming that China, “Can’t have it both ways.” With Germany seeking to reduce ‘One sided dependencies’ with China there could be some contention between the Asian state and the European powers. Not only impacting the Eastern continent but the whole world. Dependencies on western powers is high for Ukraine and it will be the difference between victory and defeat.

Taking a realist approach, it only makes sense for western powers to supply Ukraine with the military aid that they desire. In order to keep Russia from advancing and gaining valuable territory they need to act, fast. You either kill or be killed, metaphorically. With self interest in mind and the understanding that the nature of the international system is anarchy NATO allies states will continue to support Ukraine until the very end. Using economic and military power there very well could be a positive outcome for Ukraine in the future.
