On November 1st and 2nd in Syria, Israeli warplanes struck in Hisya. A copper factory was the target of these attacks. While the Syrian Civil War continues, Israel strikes. This is not the first time that Israel has struck Syria.
Syrian air defense responded by firing back after the Israeli jets struck. During the attack, Syrian military forces successfully hit an Israeli warplane, confirming their abilities. They also warned of dangerous consequences if Israel were to do something like this again. Threats were made towards Israel, claiming that Syria is fully capable of fighting back- and winning.
Originally, the Israel planes were claimed to be only photographing parts of Lebanon for Israeli Intelligence. When the Syrian forces responded, this is what prompted Israel to attack.
The main question here is who is at fault? Israel could very well be at fault for circling borders above a country in which there has been a history of airstrikes. Syria’s assumption that the warplanes were there to attack were completely rational, given the history. On the other hand, Syria did prompt Israel to attack by initiating the Air Defense system; hitting and Israeli jet.
It is difficult for me to choose a side here. Both countries seem to be at fault; however, Israel flying over Syria for reasons other than airstrike is taunting Syria. Syria could very well be in the clear here, because they were defending themselves just as they did in the past.
