Much like my analysis post last week, this analysis post pertains to the struggle between Israel and Palestine over Jerusalem. More specifically, I will be discussing how the US is opening their new embassy. The new Israeli embassy is set to open on May 14, the day that Israel recognizes as their independence. However, this is a slap in the face to Palestine because they call it the “day of catastrophe.” The embassy move is seen as a complication in efforts to try and regain peace between the two nations and the U.S. is entirely to blame. In case you didn’t know, Israel claims all of Jerusalem as its capital, while the Palestinians see the eastern sector as the capital of their future state. The United States moving their embassy recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s and now Palestine will have a harder time fighting for it. Not to mention by recognizing Israel and not Palestine, The United States is denouncing Arabs and Muslims in Palestine. Trump believes that he is solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by making a decision on who should have Jerusalem, only really helping the United States.
