Something rare to see- Turkey, Iran, and Russia together agreeing on a military commitment. With the Syrian Civil War going into the start of its 7th year of conflict, the three states convened at the Ankara Summit to more or less agree that the YPG coalition rebels are terrorists that need to be wiped out. America counters and believes YPG aides in the fight against the Islamic State, but the Ankara Summit seemed to convene on the pretense of bias, cynical thought. Turkey and Iran were especially blunt with their words against America, saying that America is only there for money and will even prop up terrorism if given money.
While there is some truth to his words regarding America being in the middle east for economical and international relationship reasons, there still is the fact that the current government that the Ankara summit supports has been using chemical weapons not only on rebels, but citizens alike. I believe the only reason Turkey is cooperating is first of all to crush YPG whom they’ve had conflict within their nation for decades now, but secondly to gain more territory along her borders.
With Trump announcing the soon evacuation of US military force in Syria, it seems that a ceasefire may be possible, especially with the last rebel stronghold of Douma starting to be evacuated of rebel fighters.
