A few weeks ago a Syrian missile sold to Syria by Russia, shot down a Russian plane and killed 20 people. The Syrians claimed it was an accident and that the Israelis are responsible for the accidental friendly fire. The Israelis, who are backed by the United States, launched a series of attacks on Syria with their f-16 fighter jets. The Syrians claimed that they shot down the Russian vessel thinking it was an Israeli fighter when in reality it was just returning to a base. This incident is quite ironic when you also realize that the Russian military is also supplying the Syrians with a brand new kind of missile. This just goes to show that even though miscommunication has happened, they find a way to blame it on a common enemy. The Russians supported Syria through their civil war and helped the president, Bashar Al-Asahd. The Americans helped the rebel terrorist group who were rising up against the totalitarian government. Even though the war in Syria is over their are still groups of rebels in some parts of the country. This comes down to the idea that you can’t kill an idea/ideology.
The Turkish president as well as Russian and Iranian leadership have been discussing plans to implement a demilitarized zone on the Syrian-Turkish border. Turkeys president’s main goal is to eradicate American backed terrorist groups in the area and says that any American support is illegal and that Turnkey and its allies are committed to expelling America from Syria. Syria and Russia and Turkey have a reciprocity relationship which falls under the liberal theory of relationship. Russia is providing military to protect Syria from the rebel groups that are still active. The rebels want the Syrian president out of power because he has been a dictator for many years and has done awful things to his people and treated them as trash. This is why Europe has had an influx of refugees in the past few months, because as the war ended, the rebels needed somewhere else to go. They would possibly be persecuted or killed by the totalitarian government. America has a tough decision in all of this because if they “remove” Bashar Al-Ashad from power they take a risk in bringing more instability to the region and make matters in the middle east even worse.
