France is accusing Iran of a failed bombing attempt in Paris back in June. The freezing of assets belonging to Tehran’s intelligence service and two Iranians helped link Iran to the crime. The alleged bomb plot came to light two days after thousands of Iranian opposition supporters gathered at an exhibition center outside Paris on June 30.The meeting was attended by two allies of US President former House speaker Newt Gingrich and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani. Belgium announced in July that it had arrested a couple in a Brussels suburb who were suspected of preparing to drive a car packed with explosives to the French rally. A total of six people were then detained in coordinated raids by European police, including the Iranian diplomat based in Vienna. The Iranian diplomat that was arrested was Assadollah Asadi. He was found in a German City with explosives in his car. The Iranian ministry is denying his involvement in the suspected attack and calling for his realse rather quickly. Two hundred French Police also launched an anti-terror raid on a large Muslim centre in Zahra Centre, France. They also raided the homes of several Muslim directors in the centre. They arrested three people and found several guns. Two of those three people have since been released.
After reading all this I was rather surprised. I was well aware of the several terrorist attacks being committed but I was unaware of this particular failed attack. It’s obviously a good thing that the attack failed otherwise I believe there would’ve been a lot tensions between countries. I was also unaware of the fact that the France and Iran were having difficult times. It makes sense however considering that they are trying to salvage a nuclear deal in Europe that the US pulled out of. It won’t be a very good deal considering that there was a failed attack by an Iranian in Europe, however.
