With over 500 rockets being fired, at least 16 deaths, and dozens more inured it’s not hard to believe that this has been the worst conflict since the end of the war in 2014. The hostility between Gaza and Israel is really just a small part of the bigger conflict between Palestine and Israel. Like most riots start, this all began because of an election. When are people going to stop resorting to violence to try and get their points across? Why do conflicts always erupt into battles? Being in this class has opened my eyes to the downfalls of the world. I knew that bad things were happening in other parts of the world, but I didn’t realize how often and how severe. It’s saddening but also kind of invigorating. I want nothing more than to have the power to go to the Gaza border, sit everyone down, and discuss the situation like civilized people. That is never going to happen. The reality of this is that there is always going to be war and there is always going to be suffering. Maybe we do need a world power. Maybe a nation just needs to take control and make the decisions for everyone. Everyone wants power and no one wants war but it’s hard to have one without the other. This momentary firing of bombs and rockets is jst proof of that. I hope this ceasefire lasts longer and is more respected than before. I hope nothing else happens in the recent future to incite another round of death and destruction. But when it comes again I hope that it’s resolved without conflict. The world just needs better government but no one knows how to get it. Wishful thinking is not going to get anything done, action needs to be taken by anyone and everyone all around the world.
