Reading about everything happening in the Middle East is exhausting and depressing, especially living in a country where the government had decided it doesn’t want to help anyone we’ve helped in the past and those who are in desperate need of it. Yemen’s humanitarian crisis is predicted to be one of the worst going into 2019, the Sudanese government is killing its civilians, Syria has practically been reduced to rubble, and the only one we seem to be agreeing with is Saudi Arabia, who literally murdered an American citizen.

While I know that there is a complex conflict between Israel and Palestine that I do not fully understand and therefore am probably completely incorrect in my suspicions, I found it odd that Israeli forces raided a Palestinian community in the middle of the night to round up some random civilians. Maybe I’m just not thinking of it in a militaristic sort of way, but it seems strange and kind of overly aggressive to me that they would do that without announcing any kind of firm or specific reasoning behind it. In the raid, there was a twenty-two year old man that was fatally shot to the head and his lower appendages, which is also confusing. I think it’s because the article I found didn’t have enough detailed information on it, but, again, it seems odd to me that they would just pump a civilian full of lead for no reason. Maybe he was retaliating against Israeli forces during the raid, which would give the Israelis a reason to attack him, but the whole report was just a bit too vague for me to fully wrap my head around. It’s definitely something I’m going to look into in more detail later on, because the person who shot him could have been an outlier and just fired without thinking, or it could have been part of the military plan that involved the midnight raid of Palestinian homes.
