The Middle East like Sub-Saharan Africa is a shatter belt. This was very clearly shown when the first article I read was about the UAE providing weapons to Yemen. This inability for there to be stability in the region is apparent through almost every article in this collection of posts. From a president who was elected due to overthrowing a government, to a man captured by IS still believed to be alive. After reading these articles though you see how stability is starting to be returned and how it is being returned. Countries like Israel and Saudi Arabia are using their ties to the U.S. to bring in economic gain and show what power they have began to form. With a missile defense system being made in Israel, it gives an idea of how the power is being made. Straight up dominance and defense is how you will claim your piece in the Middle East. Israel is using weapons that the U.S. provided and given them to Yemen to help them solve their conflicts which again shows the use of weapons to show your power. The problem with this situation is if countries in the Middle East start to miss use the support they are given and the problems it can begin to cause. The U.S. doesn’t know yet if Israel has violated some of their sharing agreements but if they have, diplomatic ties can start to be hurt and you can start to see countries that are beginning to get on the right track start to fall back off if they can’t get support from the big countries because they aren’t pleasing them. With weapons being the main source of stability in the region, that can also be a risky line to walk and usually has to be played very carefully. If you give weapons to the wrong people, like the U.S. may be worried about with Israel and Yemen, then problems can be started quickly and hard to put down if you have to fight fire with fire.
