The President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, has recently stated that in order for The United States and Iran to re-open negotiations they would have to repent for the things they have done. Since Trump has become president he has reintroduced sanctions sanctions on Iran after withdrawing from a historic nuclear deal. Trump said that the deal was not permanent and could that Iran was not fully complying. Iran feels offended that Trump came at them like that and wants a formal apology for the past United States involvement in Iran from the past. President Hassan Rouhani also wants the United States to recognize Iran’s greatness. He also was passive aggressive by saying “We will be ready to accept the repentance and return of the US, even though it has oppressed us for many years.” Iran is basically saying that the United States has treated them poorly for many years but they will be the bigger person and work with the United States again.
The United States is the global superpower. Iran wants the United States cooperation because if not with them then against them. The United States are not going to intervene in any foreign affairs if it won’t benefit them. The United States have not been that close with Iran in the past. The US helped Iraq fight against Iran in the Iraq-Iran war. Donald Trump and the rest of the United States will decide if it is in our best interest to get back into the nuclear deal or even to just reagan a better alliance with Iran.
