The United States has made preparations to withdraw the two western diplomats from Iraq after warning Baghdad that it could shut down it’s embassy. Two Iraqi officials and two western diplomats say it could have a serious impact on Iraq and turn it into a complete battlezone. The decision made by the US could be seen as an escalation of its conflicts with Iran which Washington is blaming for the increase in bomb and missile attacks. US secretary of state Mike Pompeo threatened to close the embassy while on a phone call with President Barhm Salim. One of the western diplomats said “The US administration does not want to be limited in their options. When asked if the US would respond with any economic or military action, he replied “Strikes.”Despite the United States exit from Iraq the pentagon agreed to continue it’s support Iran’s security plan and US operations against ISIS. The Iraqi militia group is responsible for an abundance of attacks such as missiles, rickets, and car bombs in a close proximity to the US embassy in Baghdad which happens to be it’s largest in the world.
This is a very smart move by the United States. There isn’t a good reason for them to still be there. Between ambassadors and 5,000 US troops there are a lot of American lives at stake. We don’t need anymore foreign oil and keeping Iraq together isn’t necessarily our job anymore. The only thing we have to contemplate protecting is our embassy in Baghdad, it is the largest one we have in the world however that is the only real reason we have to stay there.
The western ambassadors are in Iraq to keep peace between Iraq and its neighbors. If they leave then that will send a message to Iran, Saudi Arabia, the shia, and the sunni that Iraq is now unprotected. Therefore those 4 groups will have the freedom to pull Iraq apart without any interference from the US. This will also have a huge affect on the relations between China and Russia because they still rely on foreign oil and will have to go in and get it from Iraq themselves. This is a very important situation going on in the middle east because this could have a lot of major effects for major countries around the world. Even though this is still a developing situation it is steadily getting worse as time goes on.
