In refugee camps all throughout norwest Syria the Covid-19 virus has been quickly spreading through the cmps which has been difficult to try and control because there are 1.5 million people who are in unsanitary conditions. The refugees are unable to safely social distance, or receive proper care therefore the number of cases is rapidly spreading and the number of people dying is continuously going up. As of November 2nd, health authorities have announced that there are 5,075 cases in Syria. Out of those cases 860 of them are healthcare officials, and 330 of them are from people in the camps.

The living conditions at the camps are extremely unsanitary, the people there are living in tents and makeshift homes. Most of the people living there are escaping from the fighting and destruction from the nine-year civil war that has torn Syria apart. Without proper medical care, lots of people in the refugee camps are going to continuously contract the deadly virus and the likelihood of people getting tested in a timely manner to stop the spread is a very low possibility.

This directly relates to international relations because this is a very negative representation of globalization because the pandemic started in China and it now has reached the far corners of the world in the worst parts of the middle east and it is starting to kill people who can’t even get the minimal necessities to keep themselves safe and others around them safe. Some of the camps don’t even have access to maks and the ones that do aren’t able to switch them out and get people new ones. All of the camps aren’t able to get hand sanitizer either and the lack of medical supplies and medical attention is causing the virus to spread quickly and continue to be deadly with no way of controlling it.
