The people of Sudan and the Sudanese government have not been getting along lately one could say. Actually, rather fighting. Protests from the people of Sudan have broken out as they believe the government is not civilian involved enough. These protests have resulted in multiple Sudanese people being wounded, or worse, dying, and has also resulted in multiple Sudan military and police being harmed as well. However, there is a diplomatic push to resolve these issues that include the United States head of African affairs diplomats meeting with the Sudanese government in the Sudan capital. These meetings are intended to complete the United Nations mission of facilitating a renewed civilian led transition to a democracy.

This article is important because it shows a possible outcome had our government not been set up as it is. It puts our society into perspective and makes one realize how grateful we should be that we live in the United States and have a government that people are allowed to be involved in and give their piece of mind that can then in turn be a deciding factor in decisions that our economy makes. While in Sudan, they have to fight for the right for the government to even listen to what they have to say, which is something no people of a country should have to go through.

This topic relates to class discussion through foreign policy. The United States is trying to help Sudan develop a healthy relationship between their government and people by helping to develop a democracy. The people of Sudan deserve a say in what goes on in their society or else it can lead to these exact problems that are happening now. The foreign policy can grow stronger between our two nations if we can indeed help Sudan solve these problems and end these riots.
