The article talks about the momentary truce between Israel and Palestine. The truce was agreed upon for four days but was extended to six. The truce has allowed for both sides to exchange prisoners. The truce also has allowed for both sides to tend to the wounded and get humanitarian aid. Palestine got 200 trucks of supplies daily during this truce, however before the war Palestine was receiving 500 trucks daily even while not at war. Concerns of starvation and dehydration are arise while the citizens of Palestine are not getting the basic needs that their populations needs. Palestine has had nearly 80% of people internally displaced because of the bombing from the war with Israel.
The war between Palestine and Israel has been destructive for both sides, however the war has been much more devastating for Palestine. The people of Palestine need much more supplies and aid than they currently are getting. Hospitals in Palestine are having to close down due to lack of supplies, this jeopardizes the health and safety of the Palestinian people. Not having hospitals is especially an issue when you are constantly being bombed. The truce between the two shows that peace could be attained diplomatically instead of fighting. The Leaders of the two countries could agree to meet and discuss terms of peace instead of continuing to send people to fight each other.
In International Relations Class we have talked about the types of NGOs and the ones that specifically are for humanitarian aid. NGOs such as red cross could go into the Gaza strip to aid the people who can’t get help from hospitals. However this would be dangerous considering the bombing runs from Israel. The NGOs could also try to deliver more supplies instead of staying in the Gaza strip, this could help the Palestinian hospitals to be functional by themselves. At the current rate the likely outcome of in the area will be that Palestine will fall and Israel will own the region, which will then likely create tensions with bordering countries due to Israel now having a history of invading countries for land expansion.
