This article explains two young Palestinians’ points of view. The Israeli military has become more forceful and powerful. The author talks about two boys that believed the president of Palestine was not doing enough and made fun of his beliefs. The article points out the damage in the area as well as the extreme and traumatic loss of Palestine citizens. It explains how the Palestinians are posting pictures all over the buildings of the friends and family lost in hopes of protesting against Israel and potentially convince them to end the violence. It also gives data on the losses from the attacks, “On 7 October, Hamas gunmen from Gaza attacked southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 240 others hostage. More than 18,400 people are said to have been killed in Gaza during the war that followed.” Following this attack, the Palestinian government reduced their constant killing and capturing of Hamas members. It is believed that the government felt it was useless to try and stop them as their beliefs are spreading throughout Palestine. Israel claims they are only attacking the West Bank to eliminate Hamas but the Palestinians believe their attacks have gone too far. But some people believe it has helped to get Israel to release various Palestinian prisoners. According to the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR), in the past three months, the support for Hamas in the West Bank has tripled.
The increase in support of Hamas could reduce the allies of Palestine because a lot of countries want to support the Palestinian citizens but don’t agree with the beliefs and actions of the Hamas terrorist group. I think that because the US is allies with Israel their partnership will strengthen after the release of this data. The United States is very cautious and after their own past with Pearl Harbor and witnessing the harm they have done around the world, they are fully against terrorist groups.
In class, we have discussed the multilateral approach. The Multilateral approach is when three or more countries work together to solve an issue. In the Israel and Palestine war, the United States, the UK, France, and Australia are just a few examples of the countries working with Israel to fight Palistaine. They are working together to solve the unresolved conflict of land ownership.
