The United States is eagerly pushing for the end of the Israel-Hamas War. Israel is currently involved in ‘high intensity’ fighting that is having massive impacts on the surrounding areas. The United States national security advisor recently met with the Israeli government and stated that the Biden administration is pressing for the end of Israel’s violent attacks. Unfortunately for the US, Israel stated that they would not halt their attacks until they had defeated Hamas. Biden has publicly said that he hopes the Israelis will attempt to protect Gaza’s citizens. The US believes that Israel will eventually tone down their attacks, but refused to go into detail.
The US is fighting for the end of violence because it is having deathly effects on the area of Gaza. I feel that this interference by the United States shows their care for other civilizations. They feel that the ‘high intensity’ fighting is unnecessary and hurting the situation rather than helping it. It is important to understand that the United States is not pushing for the war to end, however, they want the people of Gaza to stop living in a violent environment. But the United States does not want to support Hamas either, they have refused to go into detail about Israel’s plans due to tipping off Hamas.
This relates to class because it deals with alliances and involvement in international conflict. The US is getting involved to try and impose its morals and beliefs into the situation. They want to influence what they deem to be morally right and wrong. It also relates to class because it deals with international security. The main reason the United States got involved was to protect the people of Gaza. Israel’s violent attacks and aggressive military action are putting the people of Gaza at risk. The United States is focusing on the safety of other people because Israel and Hamas are not.
