Israel has attacked several buildings in Lebanon’s coastal city Tyre, and Hezbollah confirmed a top official many expected to be the next leader has been killed. Israel warned civilians to evacuate before releasing their attack, and there has yet to be any reported casualties. A Lebanese new agency stated on Wednesday an Israeli attack on the town of Marrakeh killed three people. Hezbollah fired a ton of rockets into Israel, and two were intercepted. Hezbollah released a statement they would continue the legacy their leader left behind even though he was killed. Fire between Hezbollah and Israel has been on a near daily basis for months. A professor from NYU criticized Israel’s attack, stating they can’t bomb their way to safety.
This article described the continued conflict between Israel and Hezbollah (in Lebanon) that appears to be never-ending. Israel asking civilians to evacuate gives the appearance that they care, but Israel has been attacking so many countries it is hard to believe that they do. Although Lebanon and Hezbollah do have the ability to fight back, the two countries need to work towards peace and engage in diplomatic discussions. The NYU professor who said Israel can’t bomb their way to safety seems to nail it right on the head – Israel has got to work on diplomacy. Conflict in the Middle East is occurring in many countries and doesn’t seem to stop. Yes, the MIddle East is a region of our world that engages in conflict quite frequently, but the war in Gaza amplifies the conflict to an extreme level.
Israel’s response to any threat or attack has been to bomb/attack the country. Using critical analysis, we can see the issues in this response. Countries around the world become more uneasy supporting Israel because of how many people they have killed in their attacks. Human lives are lost. They will be retaliated against because of their attack. Besides those reasons, there are even more issues to Israel’s immediate response. Israel has a national interest to appear strong being a democratic Jewish country surrounded by authoritarian Muslim countries. Those other countries have a national interest to help Palestine take over Israel because Palestinians are also Muslim, and they want Israel to be a Muslim country.
