When first researching the Israeli- Palestinian conflict, I was initially sucked into to the nitty-gritty blame game. Who was at the most fault? Who was to blame for all the bloodshed and innocent lives lost? However, upon taking a step back I came to realize that both the Israelis and the Palestinians have blood on their hands. No one is innocent and religion is to blame.

Both Muslims and Jews claim the city of Jerusalem as their own, and because of this, the bloodshed will never cease. The only way that peace could be reached, is if both groups would be willing to put their faith aside and come to a compromise for the good of the people. This would stop the loss of innocent lives. However, this dream is most likely impossible due to extremists on both sides.

Muslims and Jews have fought over this land for centuries, and the U.S and other powers have simply worsened the conditions. Because of how powerful the Jewish lobbyists are in our country, we have continued to turn a blind eye to the atrocities they have committed against the Palestinians. And while I do support a homeland for the Jews, I think there needs to be a line drawn somewhere. There has to be a way for the two to compromise. The “Two-State Solution” has been suggested and worked toward for a number of years, however, I think this too will fail. Simply because if Palestine were ever to become a state, they would not immediately become peaceful, extremists would want revenge for the crimes Israelis had committed against them.
