There is a lot going on in yemen, there has been a 7 year civil war that is still continuing today. This civil war has resulted in the death of hundreds of thousands of deaths of fighter and civilians. In more recent times mainly since Biden took office. The Houthis have began an offensive because the us has been talking about withdrawing. The offensive has consisted of more drone strikes and missile strikes. If you are wondering were a rebel alliance is getting all of these arms look no further then Iran. the smaller tribes and yemen forces that are fighting to get there capitole back are be supported by Saudi Arabia. A big problem with this office and slowly proching Marib is that there are about 125 IDP camps, that’s up to 800,000 people that are being threatened and 320,000 are facing the choice of having to flee to yet another IDP camp.
Obviously this has saver impact on the future of the region. If this rebel group that is backed by Iran successfully takes over completely then that will become a strategic alie for Iran to better attack Saudi Arabia. NOt to take about the trade partnership that will form between the two. Also I would imagine you would have a mass migration of immigrants trying to flee the waring area causing surrounding nations to have to carry even more weight dragging their economies further down due to covid-19.
This relates to class because it really focus on how groups, nation, and people can choose to settle disagreements. For example the Houthis do not want to sign a ceasefire. they are foucing soully on a military campign to get what they want. where as the UN and Saudi backed yemen rebel are trying to find a less destructive way to end this civil war
