The middle east is a mosh pit for conflict, destruction, and misery. The civil war that began in 2011 seems never ending to the refugee people. It all started with the protest of Arab spring, having violent and non-violent protesting that began in Lybia, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, Bahrain. The Arabians wanted out of the regime but protests began to die down due to authoritative actions. Bashar al-asshad who has been president since July of 2000, ordered repercussions for those who took part in the protest. major powers like the U.S. and the EU stepped in and suggestion for asshad to step down from his presidency after allegedly committing war crimes and slaughtering his own people. He had gassed his people much like the holocaust and murdered innocent children. People say we as americans should step in and do more to help, but when is doing more enough? the UN alone is doing a lot with their camp sites provided, and sure living in a tent is not anyones first choice, but is that really helping the people? personally I feel as if the united states is always the one to put a peaceful hand in the pile, but we need to realize what extent we can keep contributing our concern into these types of incidents. Is it fair that we risk our soldiers everyday for these people who aren’t affiliated with our country? its not right that the USA needs to be the security blanket in almost every situation when most likely more than half of the world would not give back the same coexist in return. As seen in a series of events that no matter what we as americans do, or the united states government, you cant always find peace. And with our efforts in the Syrian crisis so far, its extremely obvious that just by supervising and “helping” the refugees nothing will ever change unless the regime changes its way. Its plain as day that we could be theoretically wasting time at this moment, rather than looking for a stronger positive effect to help many lives and countries struggling.
