Out of the four articles I chose, the most interesting one was the article on the Taleban possibly threatening Turkmenistan to join in on combating terrorism. Due to the fact that Turkmenistan borders Afghanistan it is understandable that Turkmen could possibly be overcome by the terrorist group. So far it has done a great job at staying neutral in the matter but I don’t believe it can keep that up any longer. Since most of the middle east is very unstable it is understandable why many of the countries don’t want to get involved with the other countries over the fear of the chaos in one country passing on to another country and creating turmoil in that country. Though I feel this lack of participation has lead to the growth of terrorist groups like the Taleban. Supposedly, the Taleban was defeated but once again it has gained control of part of the middle east and Afghanistan. Now, with an increase in fighting along the Turkmen-Afghan border, there is a possibility of Taleban control extending into Turkmenistan. If Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and other neighboring countires don’t figure out a way to stop the Taleban control and a way to prevent the group from resurfacing, the central part of Asia will become more unstable than it already is. Although this can be hard to solve since the ideology of the Taleban group will probably still live on even though the group is dismantled. This is what has caused it to resurface again; the fact that the Taleban and other terrorist groups aren’t just a physical entity, it is a mindset of the people, which is very hard to change.
