There has been a lot about the Iran Nuclear Weapons deal lately. US President Trump has been very vocal about disliking the deal. Even going as far to state that Iran is breaking the deal. Recently however, when the UN checked the areas they said Iran was complying with the agreement. The Iranian government has done much to defuse the situation though. Iran’s President per Al-Jazeera has recently said Iran has built, is building, and will continue to build missiles. These won’t be able to carry warheads however.
Even though what they are doing is techniquely within the agreement, Iran ought to stop creating these missiles. These missiles are a destabilizing force. Iran and Saudi Arabia have been engaged in what is essentially a cold war for decades. Using a series of proxy wars and political maneuvering to take the other state. Putting batteries of missiles within their borders flares tensions everywhere. From the US, to the Saudis, and all the ‘ancy neighbors that permeate the region. Not to mention if Iran did build a missile that could carry a nuclear warhead covertly. Only certain areas are being checked in the UN agreement and the Iranian government is notoriously shady.
I would feel most safe if Iran stopped producing missiles.Diplomacy obviously needs to be made. Possibly more sanctions needed to be levied, but not just by the US. Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and other powerful states must also put pressure on Iran. This would most likely follow up with a de-arming of the region, and a multitude of gifts being rewarded by western countries.
Or the Middle East could just keep ramping up the tensions. Something tells me that it will probably be the later.
