There is a ton going on in central asia right now including the continued Myanmar refugee crisis. Two journalists were recently arrested for having documents pertaining to the military crackdown on rohinga muslims. This is kind of the hallmark of a growing authoritarian regime. The removal of a free press to limit government. On top of that it seems the military holds all the power. Myanmar has been a military regime in the past and has only recently gone into a more democratic government style.
Pakistan is coming under pressure do to allegations that they harbor many Taliban and terrorist militants that flee from Afghanistan. This means that the united states is paying Pakistan while Pakistan is helping our enemies. This is kind of a hard situation to fix though. If America stops funding Pakistan and removes our self as allies from them then they can retaliate. Pakistan unfortunately is a nuclear power and that retaliation could be very detrimental. America needs to keep as many nuclear allies on its side to prevent nuclear proliferation and more unstable states in possession of weapons of mass destruction. If Pakistan were to become an enemy then there would be two unstable nuclear states in the eastern hemisphere. North Korea being the other. Pakistan still refuses to budge on the terrorist problem though. They are friends of the enemy but we need them to keep a more stable world.
