Analysis of: Xi Urges Peaceful Unification Of China And Taiwan, But Won’t Rule Out Using Force: NPR

Taiwan has been separate from China for over 60 years so why now does Xi want to reconnect with Taiwan? I think he just wants more territory and therefore more people to rule over. I do not understand the point of one country two systems. What is the point of having a so called unified country if the country will be ruled under two systems anyways. The other scary thing that Xi has threatened is that if Taiwan and it’s people do not cooperate then he is willing to use force. This most likely means using the military and any weapons he can get ahold of, perhaps nukes.

Taiwan’s leader, Tsai Ing-Wen, has already spoken on not only her own behalf, but the majority of Taiwan’s. Most of the people do not want to be a part of China. SO many places around the world already do not recognize them as separate from China and if they agree to become a part of China then no where around the world will look at them as their own country.

Taiwan originally broke off from China because they did not want to fall under the communism there. If Taiwan agreed to become part of China then that would just go back on their very point of why they left in the first place.

I think it is unfair of Xi to just expect Taiwan to automatically become a part of China again. THey have been their seperate country for so long and this would be a big change. China already has so many people, there is no need for Taiwan o be added on. CHina has a hard enough time feeding and employing their own people, let alone another country’s worth of people.

Maybe Xi just wants more slave or underpaid workers in his country to boost their economy, since they have been trying to compete with the United States. Whatever the reason for this new desire to acquire Taiwan, one thing is almost for sure. Violence is coming with it.
