My group was the Country of Budan and our goal was to not keep the Rubits wile not handicapping ourselves in the process. This was not what happened because we lost all support, even from our closest ally. It didn’t help that we started out as the “bad guys” in the eyes of the other countries, NGO’s and IGO’s. The lack of support and the shared mentality that Budan was bad lead to almost all decisions being bad for Budan. My group and I tried to make policies to reduce the damage caused ,but that did little to help. Budans sovereignty was violated due to routine check ups of the country or else Budan would end up totally alienated from most of the world. Budan had to accommodate for a minority with less funding then it had ,and ended up really getting a raw deal. We could of done better if we had support from the group from Malil then we could of only had to sway one other faction to get better deals and not end up in a worse position. I participated in my group by constantly spitballing ideas and talking with other groups. I didn’t talk much when formal negotiations happened because I was worried that I’d botch terminology or end up flustered. This is because I had no experience before hand. Other then formal negotiations I was extremely active. The good things about the simulation is how it makes you think about the limitations that you have and how to work with them or even work around them. I fund this to be a mental exercise in which I had to think of creative solutions. I would constantly think of ways to weasel out of ways to do things that clauses said we had to do or deals we had to make. It made me think of when some one makes a deal with the devil and they don’t notice something that seemed minor but it ended up being what killed them in the end. I’d say that was the best aspect of it. A bad part of the simulation was that the Rubbits didn’t get a say and where at the mercy of countries (the 1 NGO and the 1 IGO didn’t have much influence) who had no real interest in them exept to make their reputations better.
