In the latest violent clash between Indian soldiers and Kashmiri insurgents, two rebels were reportedly killed by Indian paramilitary troops in Srinagar. According to the Indian police, one of the rebels was a Pakistanti terrorist who was involved in attacks earlier in the year in Srinagar. However, there was never any substantiation provided for this claim by the India police force. In response to the killings, Ant-India riots ensued in the streets, involving vituperative chants and stone throwing, with no injuries reported up to this time.

The territory of Kashmir has been violently disputed between Pakistan and India ever since the British partition after WW2. Both countries claim the land as entirely their own, with India currently controlling the region of Jammu and Kashmir. Recently in 2019, India abolished Article 370, which granted Jammu and Kashmir special status under the constitution of India to act mostly in autonomy. Since this action, Kashmiri separatist efforts have increased, both for independence and for Pakistani control. There have been recent comments made by Pakistani officials calling for talks with India over the disputed state of Kashmir. The problem is that neither side seems willing to truly come to mutual resolution without further violent conflict, as this is one of the most interminable ongoing conflicts in the modern world.
