Mumbai has just recorded its lowest Covid gain in 69 days. Monday, the city reported just a gain of 708 people, and while that may sound like a large amount, the last time there had been a lower amount recorded in a day was in august, it was 587 people. Clearly, steps that the government has taken are showing to be beneficial. Specifically, Municipal Commissioner I S Chalal gives credit to the ‘ My family my response’ campaign which urges citizens to take responsibility for their loved ones actions in relation to Covid-19. He also states that rates of infection have fallen to 0.41% from 1.06% previously. There are some that fear a second wave is coming to the city where numbers will spike again, but experts are confident that this will not come if people continue to take part in the proper precautions.

I believe that this article shows clearly that eventually things will go back to normal. The fact that in a non powerhouse country, a government can successfully organize a plan, execute the plan, and see results, is very exciting for me to see. It gives me hope that other countries of similar stature and look of India can follow the same ideas and protocols so that they can also find success in limiting the spread of Covid. On top of this, I believe that this also gives an example to other countries who may be smaller than India and need guidance on what is the most effective method to stop Covid. Kind of how a child mirrors their parents. This is absolutely vital because in order to completely beat Covid, every country must be on board. Just because Canada, and Sweden, and some countries have done well in dealing with Covid doesn’t mean that the virus is gone, it takes success from a large majority of all the countries in order to return to normalcy. I see India being a pioneer in leading other countries of high Covid numbers down that path of recovery in an effective manner.

In class, we read an article on globalization. The author in the article talked about how even thought that many countries are on lock down globalization cannot be reversed. I think that this article about India gives us a prime example of this. Even though that the country is in lock down and a large amount of the governments energy is going towards dealing with Covid, its not like its international ties are suddenly reversed. On the contrary, I think that the connection between countries will be even stronger once Covid is under more control. This is because countries and people have been forced to interact and learn off of each other during these unprecedented times. Because of this, I think that once Covid is under control, people and countries will be even more willing to connect, work, and develop a symbiotic relationship with others therefore growing and strengthening globalization.
