Roughly 30 soldiers and civilians were killed and over 100 injured after a rock fight turned into shots fired at a water reservoir on the Isfara river. These clashes have been going on for a decent amount of time because of these border disputes. The shooting continued for 2 days until a ceasefire was announced. While the countries are taking steps for a peaceful border, this has been going on for decades so it will most likely never stop, especially since Tajikistan still believes the land Kyrgyzstan is on is theirs. Without a definitive plan to reestablish borders between the countries, this will continue. This is basically a conflict of interest, where both sides are having a territorial dispute over half of their border. The larger problem is that it is natural for a country to not want to give up land which is there’s, meaning neither side is going to budge in this dispute and may eventually lead to a slightly larger conflict.
