Central Asia has long been the crossroad for trade in Eurasia. Trade routes through Afghanistan that would connect Central Asia to Pakistan and Indian ports on the Arabian Sea are important and need not be forgotten. The major factor is Afghanistan’s instability at the moment with new Taliban Leadership. The trade routes through Afghanistan are not safe and wanted to be traveled on at the moment by the countries in central Asia looking to send goods to South Asia ports.

The destabilization of Afghanistan has not only had effects on Afghanistan, but now also bordering nations trying to trade with other parts of Asia. Taliban fighters have taken over large amounts of territory, causing issues and dividing South and Central Asia because of the Taliban rule. Regional cooperation has been said to have been happening in Central Asia to make it a more desirable trade location. Pakistan is most affected however, as going through Afghanistan is the easiest way to get to the southern ports. The issue needs to addressed if Central and South Asia want to be connected in a strong trade relationship again.

This article relates to the new Taliban government ruling as a military power, compared to the neighboring countries trying to rule as an economic power and continue trade through Asia. It also shows realism, as Afghanistan is ruling through military might, and the bordering nations are ruling with liberalism. The bordering nations are trying to prosper through trade and economy, while the Afghan Government is ruling through a heavy military presence and threatening foreigners going through the trade routes in Afghanistan.
