The islamic republic publicly executed a protester they convicted of killing two members of the iranina security forces. this all comes as iran suffers from a multitude of protest ivr the beating and killing of women in police custody over not properly covering her head. this ecution also comes after the arrest convcition and execution of another protest that many have said came baout through a cofession gained thorugh torture. these executions have gained the denouncement of many including the U.S.with its state department releasing a statement “We denounce this draconian treatment in the strongest terms. These harsh sentences and now the first public execution… are meant to intimidate Iran’s people. They’re meant to suppress dissent,”. Iran’s Reaction to these protests has also led to the E.U and Iran declaring sanctions against each other as Iran claims the West is at fault and exacerbating their protests.

iran has been fenced in as this is their biggest protest in a insanely long time and not only is this a protest buts its massive one and it’s not peaceful. security officers are being killed and beaten and iran can keep its murder, torture, and suppression of protesters under wraps. this has caused many countrie to publicly denounce them and lowered their standing in the world and bad press has abused their allies to be much less vocal. this situation is made worse when you consider that iran has no separation of religion and state. so by protesting tis religious practices and edicts the protesters calling for actual government reform as well. it’s also important to note that countries are taking actual solid stance against iran instead of empty statements and phrases with the E.U sanctioning them and the U.N. council removing them from the council for gender equality, these are actual concrete actions and important. with my limited understanding of international relations i’ve no clue how long this will last or if it’ll eventually lead to change but i do know it will get more bloody and violent am i the long run this is going to hurt iran very badly in regards to who allies with them or at least supports them vocally.

This connects to how states are ruled but on a smaller scale. We in class talked about how you can control another state through dominance and how while that is the easiest way to make a bunch of people listen to you it breeds hate and resentment and people will buck whenever they have the opportunity. and in this case the people in iran have completely bucked. Iran rules with an iron fist religiously and through their police and security force and they don’t spare the rod and people can only take so much before all their resentment boils over which is what’s happening. more security officers will be killed and more protesters will be murdered which is very unfortunate but in some cases is the only way to get real change in the status quo done.
