In recent days the United States has become increasingly worried about the security within New Delieh. This comes as a Sikh leader had an assignation attempt. This adds some tension to the United States and India’s relationship while both countries are trying to become closer to help fight against the rise of China. When the United States first warned India they claimed that they took the warning very seriously however, clearly the murder plan still occurred even if it was foiled. It also said the only reason that the murder plot was stopped was because of the United States warning. Another reason this is being looked at so harshly is because of the rising tensions between Canada and India after the murder of another Sikh separatist in Canada. India is quick to dispel any connection to the murders under the claim that Canada has given them no information to look into how India is involved. However, security in India has been an ongoing concern for Americans and has been brought up as early as April. That being said, India associates claim that the concerns were not brought up that early and were instead mentioned during the United States and India’s 2 + 2 meeting in November. Where they both talked about security within the Indo-Pacific Region. All of this Skihand India tension stems from the Sikhs wanting to become their own country because they all have the same identity, where most of them reside in India. Although the politics have been a little shaky they still have okay relations. And India’s high commissioner claimed that India’s government was probably not involved but India was a big country and its people had a chance of being involved. This is significant because as India is trying to grow its worldly influence they do not want to give the rest of the world any reason to doubt their power. And the way that India is choosing to gain power is through increased relations with the United States and continue to become a global power. It also causes India’s relationship with Canada to become a little shaky as well. However, at the moment due to India continuing to state their lack of involvement, I think that if it proves to be true that the Indian government is not involved it will not be a huge deal. It is also important to note that India needs to get the Sikh under control if they want to become one united country. I think this shows a great example of how having different nationalities and religions in one country can lead to clear divisions in society. That is exactly what is occurring in India. I am assuming due to the fact they were a former colony they did not get to choose the borders of India. This then creates unrest from all of the different nationalities that want to have the ability to become their own country. This article relates to how important having one country of either the same nationality or under the same set of ideals is for the country’s stability. However, we can also notice how again two democracies are working together for the betterment of the world. And striving to build closer relationships to stop and prevent any country from feeling able to use military force on another. In this case, I think the United States and India are working to slow down the rising influence of China and try to show a united front against China if China were to act too aggressively.
