Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi is currently on a tour to Syria, Lebanon, Qatar, Oman, and Iraq, and is expected to head to Turkey after concluding talks in Egypt. He is on this tour to advocate that tensions need to be eased in Israel and the Gaza strip because he worries that this conflict could spread into a regional conflict. Which could cause widespread Casualties, economic failure, and Regional Destabilization.
The push for peace in the region is key to ending this conflict between Israel and Gaza, with its importance of easing tension before it becomes a conflict with 20 countries involved. I think that this push by Iran is overall a good thing but does not add up to their previous actions. With them just sending a huge missile attack that killed innocent civilians and destroyed infrastructure. It just doesn’t seem like you can go from bombing a country one day to advocating that peace needs to be made. Iranian officials have also not been into north africa in almost a decade pushing away there minor problems to fix the bigger problems could be the movement we need to fix this conflict.
The discussion between Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi and Egyptian officers in Cairo can be seen as a significant step in the right direction towards Optimal Polarity where they have an equal amount of power making it hard for one certain country to start a conflict creating a state of equilibrium in the Middle East. By emphasizing communication, both nations are looking at the importance of the multipolar approach to the problem. This change in how politics work where states work together on fixing the conflict at hand could reduce the future problems and create a situation where no one wants to strike first with the fear of being hit back harder.
