The IDF (Israeli Defense Force) has warned Sri Lanka of a possible terrorist attack in the Arugam Bay, south, and west beaches of the small country. Sri Lanka has been a popular spot for Israelis and others for surfing and vacation. The United States and Germany have also issued warnings to citizens in their countries to not travel to Sri Lanka due to the Israeli warning of a possible attack. Local police working with Israel have strengthened security in the region in preparation for a possible attack in that region. For now, the security in the region is on stand by waiting for this probable attack.
Israel has been in a conflict with Hamas and Palestine for a little over a year since this article has been published. Israel has been looking out for its citizens and their protection within their borders against Hamas and those abroad. Sri Lanka is famed for its beaches and as a surfing destination for all over the world. However, it is still recovering from a financial crisis that severely impacted the country and its economy. Israels warning of an impending terrorist attack may damage the travel and tourist economy that Sri Lanka desperately needs back. Sri Lanka must ensure the safety of its citizens and the tourists within its countries if it wants to rebuild itself as one of the primary tourist surfing destinations in the world.
Israel, Germany, and the United States have all issued warnings to their citizens to not travel to these countries and/or leave Sri Lanka due to this impending terrorist attack. Obviously, these countries want to protect their citizens abroad in the event of an attack. Israels warning to Sri Lanka is key in the prevention of this terrorist attack and the protection of tourists within those areas.
Israel is acting within its own national interest to protect its citizens in parts of Sri Lanka and those hoping to travel there. Germany and the United States are also acting within their national interests as citizen deaths at the hands of terrorism abroad does not look good on a government. Sri Lanka is hoping to protect against this attack as to not hurt its citizens and recovering economy.
