This article covers the ongoing conflicts that have been happening between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon and highlights the diplomatic efforts for a ceasefire. Iran has voiced its support for Lebanon and its position in the world right now and that they will back any decision that the Lebanese government will make to attempt to end the fighting. The airstrikes from Israel have been getting more intense in southern Beirut. Israel has been targeting Hezbollah infrastructure which has been causing massive amounts of damage and with over a million Lebanese displaces, the US has gotten involved in the ceasefire diplomacy and presented a proposal to the Lebanese parliament. The main issue at the moment is Israel’s demand for freedom to act if Hezbollah violates the agreement.

This article is important because it discusses the Humanitarian Impact of the war. The conflict that has been happening between Israel and Hezbollah has left many dead and has caused millions of Lebanese to be forced from their homes. Also there have been numerous attacks on civilian infrastructure such as houses and hospitals which has resulted in a severe Humanitarian crisis. These attacks have highlighted the urgency for a ceasefire. Another reason why this article is important is that it also highlights Israel’s violation of International Law. With Israel focusing its attacks on civilians and hospitals goes against international law and the UN peacekeepers emphasize the violation of these laws.

The main stakeholder involved is Iran. They are a key backer of Hezbollah by supplying them with financial, military, and logistical support. Iran will most likely continue its support of Hezbollah because of Hezbollah’s resistance against Israeli actions and its emphasis on a ceasefire. Hezbollah is also heavily involved due to the recent conflicts with Israel. They will most likely insist on teams that will increase the strength of its military and its resistance capacity. Hezbollah would also want to ensure that and Israeli military actions on infrastructure in southern Lebanon won’t disrupt their operations. They may also insist on the return of all of the Lebanese that have been displaced due to the ongoing war.

This article shows the importance of having alliances with stronger countries in the world. Hezbollah would never be able to take on Israel by themselves so they have to rely on the support of their allies like Iran and Lebanon which are much more powerful countries. However, Israel has the support of the United States which is the most powerful country in the world. The United States will most likely not get too involved like sending troops to Lebanon or Israel but will be apart of negotiation of a cease fire because nobody likes war and stopping a war is everyone’s main priority.
